Mabati buying guide
Mabati is the Swahili word for corrugated roofing sheets. A few things worth knowing before you order.
Gauge 28 or 30?
The gauge is the thickness of the steel, and a lower number means a thicker sheet. Gauge 28 is heavier and stronger, gauge 30 is lighter and costs less.
Which profile?
Corrugated is the classic economical wave. Box profile gives clean lines for homes and stores. Tile profiles such as Roman tile, versatile and eurotile give a premium look.
Which length?
Ready-cut sheets come in 3M, 2.5M and 2M. Measure your rafter run from ridge to eaves and pick the length that covers it with the fewest joins.
Order a little extra
Sheets overlap at the sides and ends, and some are cut at corners and ridges. Add a few spare sheets, plus ridge caps and roofing nails with washers.
